Using humor to step into cultural moment

During the early part of the pandemic, consumers turned to online shopping to purchase everything from necessities to work out equipment to new found hobbies. By the end of the first year, many of us had moved on to other interests and no longer had need for these purchases. Stepping into this cultural trend, eBay launched a humorous campaign aimed at encouraging consumers to ‘eBay it forward’ to others, and receive cash to purchase something each of us really wants.
